The Twisted Groove is a weekly radio show on KSFR fm 101.1 Santa Fe airing Saturday eves 10pm to midnight (MT). Spinifex plays a groove-based exploration of the past, present and future of Electronic, Indie, Rare Groove, Funk, Soul, Experimental, and Afro Funk propelling your music pleasures into futurity!

Alex Chilton died Wednesday March 17, 2010. I was saddened to hear the news.

Alex seemed very content with where he stood in music history. While he was a great song writer who never made it BIG, his influence is vastly significant in today’s music. Anyone who is in the know about modern music knows Alex is an icon.

I feel so strongly about the power of Alex’s music that I felt compelled to honor him with an entire broadcast featuring his work.

It took a while for our schedules to finally match up for We Drew Lightning to play live in the studio. I was excited to see Michael and Roland arrive with a few cars full of equipment. Mark Linkous committed suicide on March 6, 2010. After hearing of Mark’s death I decided to create a Twisted Groove show around his band Sparklehorse. I have played Mark’s music many times over the years and was excited about creating a show around his music. I created the show trying to keep the unique sound of Sparklehorse through out. Although it is sad that he has passed he has left us with beautiful and unique music. Enjoy…

I went and saw the Dex Romweber Duo the other week and it got me back in the mood for some raw rock-n-roll. I purchased their 7” 45 at the show and then started looking online at what else Jack White’s label was up to. Well Jack has a whole series of 7”s that he is producing out of his studio in Nashville and releasing on his Third Man Records label. So I proceeded to buy a bunch of these and to formulate a radio show around them. So then I remembered a conversation with my friend Todd Scalise about the movie “It Might Get Loud” and that Jack had mentioned Romweber as a big influence in that film. So I called Todd up to see if he might do the show with me. So the results is the dirty punk garage blues psychedelic show below.

The first Twisted Groove show of 2010 is a rocking affair. I decided to start the New Year off with rocking good fun. For this show I was assisted with song selection by my beautiful girlfriend Dana Brownrigg. I just come back from vacation from both work and radio. During my time off I contracted a few different viruses and was feeling sick and completely exhausted. That did not stop us from creating a beautiful show of both old and new rockin music to start off 2010.
